Her Entrepreneur Journey

Jaclyn is an author, a motivational speaker, and a personal development coach who is passionate about helping women achieve their biggest goals. She’s been very ambitious since she was young, but realized growing up that a lot of women felt shame for their big goals or held themselves back out of fear. When she realized that other women had these challenges, she wanted to help them change that.

Jaclyn got into personal development in high school after reading The Secret, and ever since then has been focused on really stepping into the best version of herself. She started her first business out of her dorm room in college by creating a health product, and after several pivots and learning from many failures, she has the business that she has today speaking to and inspiring women and recently launched her book Stop Getting In Your Own Way.

What’s your biggest piece of advice for finding success?

Find your courage. Courage is just whenever your belief is stronger than your fear. It’s that self-belief that will help you get up from failure over and over again and that will help you keep going. That self-belief is where you find your courage, and it’s never too late to start building it. You have to find the self-belief that your success is inevitable and you’ll figure it out. Keep building your self-belief and listening to your intuition because that’s what helps you get to where you want to go.

Courage is whenever your belief is stronger than your fear.

Where do you think most people start to get in their own way?

As soon as they fail. If you really truly want something, you have to build the mindset piece to learn how to get back up after failure. No one gets to skip day one and overnight success only exists after years of putting in the hard work and trying again even on the days you don’t feel like it. You have to decide that the things that you want and the goals that you have are more important than the road blocks and excuses that will come up along the way.

What other things can we do to get out of our own way?

First of all, be able to recognize when your fear of failure is based on the fear of other people watching you fail. What if you framed your failure in a way that made you sound amazing? How could you rewrite the narrative to make your story sound like it’s what got you here. Instead of hiding your failures, shift your mindset and reframe the way you think of your story so that your failures don’t seem so scary or disappointing.

Lastly, think about what you actually do in the moments that you’re face first on the ground. What do you actually do when you get knocked down? You’ve got to ask yourself what the next step is. You only need to focus on that next step, and it doesn’t have to be some extravagant step toward the goal. It just has to be the next thing that is going to keep you going. Focus on the one small thing because those baby steps will compound over time and turn into those big successes.
