6 Lies You Have to Stop Believing in Order to Succeed
It's the first official episode! You guys, I don't think I have ever been more excited than I am right now. If you know me at all, then you know that this podcast is a passion project that has been on my heart and my mind for a little while, and it's finally getting started!
You guys know I have a crazy amount of things going on, but between wedding planning, virtual assistant and website design work, coaching, speaking, and all the other things, I wanted to start Females on Fire to reach more women in business and give them the resources they need to succeed.
In this first episode, I'm diving into a little bit of what you'll hear in the coming episodes of Females on Fire, but I also wanted to give you something that would truly benefit you, which is why I'm talking about the 6 lies that women in business (or anyone really!) need to stop believing in order to achieve their dreams and succeed at their goals!
1. The lie that you have to do everything.
Say it with me: "I DO NOT HAVE TO DO EVERYTHING." Now, say it 10 more times to make sure it sticks. If you are doing something you truly enjoy, and that you're good at, and that you're able to make a business out of or make money off of, then by all means, just do that. You don't have to run 3 businesses because your best friend does, or do anything just because someone else is doing it. One more time: "I don't have to do everything." Good.
2. The lie that you can't follow multiple passions.
You are not stuck in a box where you are only allowed to follow one dream.
If I had listened to all the people that thought I was doing too much work or that I'd fail because I was trying to do too many things, I'd have one wedding planning business, that's it, and this podcast wouldn't exist. You don't have to stop your own growth, and put your own dreams on hold, because someone told you can't. Do your thing(s), girl. Whatever those are.
3. The lie that you need to be into (insert activity, food, or product here).
I'm not a runner. If I'm running, then you better run too, because something's chasing us. I also don't do yoga. I genuinely hate working out in any form or fashion. Ladies, you don't have to get into CrossFit because it's all over Instagram. You don't have to get into essential oils because all your friends are doing it. There's nothing wrong with any of these things, but if you're doing them because someone you know or follow on Insta is, then you're not being true to yourself. Don't believe the hype all the time.
4. The lie that there's only one way to do something.
You can't do something the way someone has already done it, and expect to get their same results. You aren't them and you're not in their space on their journey. You have to venture out and follow your own path, even if sometimes that means you're walking alone for a little while. Eventually someone will join you. Copycats don't do amazing things. Be original.
5. The lie that someone else has everything figured out.
I know you've been there. You follow her on Instagram, you download her free contact, you're in her Facebook group, you get her emails. She looks like she has all the time in the world, while also doing everything perfectly and making millions of dollars. We all play the comparison game every single day, but give yourself a moment to be jealous, and then put your big girl panties on and move on with your life.
Someone out there wants what you have.
Somewhere out there is a women doing the same thing you are, except that she's looking at you and how far you've made it. That's a powerful thing to remember when you're starting to feel like you haven't made it yet. Just be happy for everyone else when they succeed, and be you. The longer you stare at her world, the less you're doing in yours.
6. The lie that failure means it's over.
This is the biggie. We're all guilty of #s 1-5, but this is the one that breaks my heart, because I see women quit every single day because they failed one time. You're inevitably going to fail, because you're human, but it's how you respond to that failure that matters. You have to accept that the failure is okay, let it teach you the lesson it was meant to teach you, and get back up and try again. Failure tells you that you need a different way, that it's not the right time, or that maybe this particular mountain wasn't yours to move. Stop taking "no" as an answer to your dreams, and find a new mountain to climb.
