Making money from home probably sounds like a dream right? Whether it’s something you do regularly or something you’ve found yourself doing temporarily, we all would love to make some more money. I’ve put together a list of 12 different things you could do from the comfort of your couch to add a stream of income to your budget.  All of these options work great all the time, but especially in light of what's currently going on in the world, we could all use ways to make some extra cash without leaving our sweats!

12 Ways to Make Money from Home

Digital Products

Everyone online is looking for information, so if you have the answers they’re looking for, then this is great way to make some money and help your audience out! Create a (or a few) quick win product - meaning something your customer can learn and implement quickly and start seeing results from - and package it up into a digital download. Some examples might be a how-to guide, templates, social media graphics, workbooks, etc. These will probably be at a low price point, but you can sell so many of them, and the only work it takes for is creating them, and then you’re done! Think about what you have to offer, and put it to use!

Virtual Assistant Services

If you have a skill that you’ve found valuable in your business (of if you’re that friend that’s constantly dishing out advice on one particular topic) then you should use that skill to your advantage! Businesses are constantly looking for virtual assistants to help them with mundane tasks or things they don’t know how or like doing, like responding to emails, scheduling their calendar, updating website content, data entry, etc. Try emailing some businesses you know that might want the service you’re offering, or list your service on sites like Upwork or Fiverr.

Affiliate Income

Have you ever seen your favorite clothing boutique asking their customers if they want to become affiliates? That’s because it’s a pretty popular offer for businesses that sell products or courses. Usually as an affiliate, you’ll share about a business or their product using a special referral link they give you, and then you make a commission off any sales through that link. The business is leveraging your audience, and you may money promoting your favorite products. Amazon even has an affiliate program you can join. All of my income from the Females on Fire podcast comes through affiliate marketing, so it definitely works!

Create a Course

If you have a lot of expertise on a subject and it’s just too much information to put into a digital product, then consider creating a course. You can really make a course your own because there’s no right or wrong way to do this. My courses are hosted through Teachable, and include “presentation-style” video modules with workbooks and some other resources, but you can do audio courses, create mini-courses, offer various types of resources, etc. so there are tons of options available. Just like creating digital products, once it’s created it’s a great source of passive income.

Self-Publish an E-book

Have some advice or a fun story that you’ve been dying to write? Now is the time! It’s never been easier to publish a book because self-publishing has been on the rise. If you can get the words written, it’s easy to format an E-book, self-publish it, and sell it on a platform like Amazon. It may be a small price point like products, but you could sell tons, especially if you have an established audience already. Plus, then you can say you’re a published author!

Content Creation / Graphic Design

If you handle your own social media content, blogs, and graphic design in your own business, and feel like you’re pretty good at it, then offering these services up to other businesses you know is a great way to make some money doing things you’re already doing. Much like virtual assistant services, you can offer these to businesses or industry colleagues you know of that might benefit from them, or list your services on platforms like Upwork or Fiverr.

Make Money From Home

Create a virtual event / webinar

You can package up some of your quick-win expertise into a webinar or combine it with the expertise of others for a virtual summit / conference. You can make money selling tickets, but it’s also a great way to network / collaborate with other people in (or out of) your industry and get new leads to your email list. Tickets are quick money, but the attendees could also bring you business later too, so this is a great solution for work-from-home money AND new leads to your business.

Remote Jobs

There are still companies hiring for work-from-home positions. You can find a lot of sales, customer service, and administrative positions to work remotely. This works great if you can’t find ways to generate money (or more money) in your own business right now, but still need the flexibility of working from home. Companies like Amazon hiring a lot of remote jobs, but you can also do a remote job search on platforms like LinkedIn.

Freelance Writing / Blogging

Got a knack for writing? I already mentioned self-publishing an e-book, but there are plenty of other ways to cash in on your writing skills too. A quick search will turn up tons of online platforms, digital magazines, and large-scale blogs that freelance their writings and pay them per article. Find a platform that fits your area of expertise and send in a pitch!

Tutoring

There’s a number of ways you can do this. VIPKID offers the opportunity for you to teach English online, but they do have some specifications you have to meet to be able to work from them. Tutors.com is a great platform where requests are put in for a tutor and then you can quote them a fee and they view your profile. You can also consider posting on social media platforms, asking in Facebook groups, or reaching out to your friends with kids to see if there’s anyone looking for a tutor for their child, or ask teachers you know if they have any students that could benefit from some extra help.

Sell Things on Ebay or Etsy

Needing some extra money means it’s a good time to clean out your closet, your garage, and anywhere else you might store those less-needed items you’ve been collecting. Find some things you don’t need anymore and list them on Ebay. OR if you have a skill like calligraphy, sewing, or crafting unique items, set up a shop on Etsy and start putting your skills to use to sell those items.

Take Surveys

This is my least favorite option because it definitely isn’t a quick-win for income, but if you find yourself sitting on the couch binging Netflix with nothing else to do, you might as well make some money doing it. Sign up for an account on platforms like SwagBucks or InboxDollars and get paid to give your opinion.
